Hi-tech infrastructures
The site was restored and wooden stables were built, along
with top-of-the-range installations for players, Club members
and the public. An attractive Club House was added at the
edge of the ground, welcoming members, players, spectators
and a variety of events.
Argentinean turf
A second polo ground was built in 2004, laid with Tifway
Bermudagrass. Specially grown for sports grounds, this turf
is incredibly resistant to heat, hooves and braking. It is
often found on South-American polo grounds in Argentina
for example and offers a flexible and solid grass base
for players and their mounts.
A five-star welcome
Once the second ground was built, the main ground was reserved
for major tournaments and the Club began to pull in the world's
top polo teams. Fixed and mobile stands were also designed
to offer spectators the best viewing angles. VIP boxes were
set up at the edge of the ground to welcome patrons.
The world's top polo players
Every year, teams from the throughout the world come here
to take part in a series of breathtaking tournaments, shouldered
by the world's finest professional players such as the Gracida
brothers, McDonough, Aguerre and Trotz, and cheered on by
leading French and international personalities.
French Champions
The Polo Club hosted the French Polo Championship for the
first time in 2004. Saint-Tropez's polo team scooped up the
national title, while Captain Corinne Schuler ended her year
at the top of the French women's polo league and ranked 29th
in the combined men's/women's national league.
