The Saint-Tropez Polo Club is one of the rare clubs
in France to have its own Polo School, inaugurated on July
1, 2004.
Polo is a demanding sport, requiring good horsemanship, excellent
physical condition, regular training and perfect familiarity
with game rules and technical aspects.
The Polo School offers a practical or theoretical approach
to each of these aspects, so beginners can rapidly integrate
a team and play in a tournament.
You can book a half-day training session with one of our
instructors from mid-June to mid-September, on Tuesday, Thursday
and Saturday mornings. All our instructors are professional
players.
In our indoor room, you will learn the basics and ground
rules of polo, plus the game's specific hitting techniques.
You will then evolve to horseback practice on the ground.
The Polo Club supplies full official gear (helmet, shirt,
mallet, boots, knee pads, balls, etc.), plus of course a suitable
polo pony from the Club stables.
Your instructor will guide you through your first hits and
help you excel in the art of polo.
Beginners kick off at a standstill then walking, so they
can learn different hitting techniques while familiarizing
themselves with field positions, their team mates, opponents
and the various phases of the game.
You will then start learning to hit the ball at a canter.
When your level is good enough, your instructor will place
you in real-life game conditions, playing 1 against 1, then
2 against 2, 3 against 3 and, finally, in a full game.
